    Hi,

I would like to buy one of the new Z series laptops but I would like to receive my copy of Vista on DVD so I can do a clean install. However, Sony say it's not possible. I know Dell and others either provide it automatically or on request so I cannot believe Sony will not provide it. Does anyone know how to get the original DVD?

I have a Vista Retail (not SP1) DVD at home but presumably the OEM code provided with the laptop will not activate a full retail version?

Apologies if this has been asked before but I cannot seem to access the forum search function.

    Thanks,

    Brian

Hi, As far as I know the OEM Key on the laptop itself, will activate the full retail version of the OS that is installed on your machine when you receive it. I did a clean install of my OS when I received my machine using the OEM key off of the bottom without any problems whatsoever.

It will work just fine, I used a Vista Business 32bit DVD and installed the Home Premium edition that came on my laptop just fine.
