    Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help.

I currently have a AR21S running a screen res of 1900x1200, the max it can handle.

When i output this to my HDTV, a Sony KDL-V40A12U, the desktop never fits like looking at the laptop screen. My tv's max res is 1024x748, is 40" and im using a HDMI cable. Does anyone know how i can make it fit so that it looks nice and sharp like the laptop does? Or whats the best way to output the laptop screen to the tv? so that all the desktop fits on the tv etc.

    Thanks all.

Are you using "cloning", extended desktop or single?

If you are using cloning, your resolution on desktop will end up on ya 40 incher (bad resolution on it by the way). This is a big problem if you use 1900 times 1200 because your scaler board/digital board (depending on if it is a LCD or plasma) will work it's ass of trying to scale the picture right. You should ALWAYS try inputing the TV's native resolution without any complications to make the TV look nice. Hence, use 1024x768 if you are going to clone (which is 4:3 by the way, and NOT 16:9 as proper WideScreen).

If you use extended destop (which I prefer), you can individually change the resolution on both desktops in the desktop properties. Same if you use single desktop (Use 1900x1200 on your laptop and the 1024x768 on the 40 incher, move over the windows you like to have on the telly). Use laptop as primary, preferably.

I have never used a Sony VAIO, YET (I'm still ebaying for a SZ3/SZ4), but it most likley is the same as every other laptop (which I know quite alot about).

Also, don't forget to set your 40 incher to the correct format (4:3, zoom, text zoom, etc etc. You are supposed to use 16:9 on it!)
