Could any actual owners of the new Sony Vaio Z Series laptop that use an external monitor tell me what is the maxiumum resolution that can be output from the HDMI connection on the laptop and the DVI connection on the docking station.
-
there must be some owners that can answer this question. Everyone that is thinking of getting the Sony Vaio Z series is speculating what the maximum external display resolution is with this laptop but actual owners of this laptop could clear this up and tell us what the maximum external display resolution this laptop can actually support.

Hi, daz7781,
The maximum resolution via VGA is 2048x1536. The maximum resolution via HDMI or DVI is 1920x1080.
Regards,
Mark
Edit: Corrected thanks to Psyg321's catching my slip. -
Thanks. At last a helpful Sony Vaio Z series owner that has cleared up this issue once and for all.

Hi daz7781,
I wish I could help but I don't have a docking station yet for my new Z..
glad you got an answer though -
-
Unfortunately, analog VGA cannot support 2560x1600 - the highest it can go is 2048x1536 pixels
New Z has the same docking station limitations as the old Z via DVI connection - no 2560x1600 is possible, 1920x1200 is the maximum.
There might be a possibility to add this resolution in the driver inf. file and/or create a custom one with PowerStrip. PowerStrip has yet to support GT330M so this will not work.
Someone is trying to fiddle with the driver configuration - let's see if that will help. -
Hi, Psyg321!
Gadzooks - I know that it's 2048x1536, yet my stupid dyslexia led to my posting the wrong number, since I'm the one that's trying to fiddle with the driver.inf over in the 2560x1600 thread. Thanks very much for catching that - I'll correct it above. Sorry, folks!
Cheers!
Mark
