    P8600 (2,4 GHz, 25W, 3MB Cache)
    T9400 (2,53 GHz, 35W, 6MB Cache)

    Sony FW 290 CTO:

    1. Which should be a better CPU for like normal use (ex. Photoshop, Movie/editing, Gaming, etc..)?

    2. How much a different on battery life.. ?

    3. Or should wait for a new model FW 300 series.. to come out.. ?

I would also vote for the P8600. It uses less power both when on full load and when on idle. Also, it doesn't have a half-multiplier CPU speed that RMClock can't handle should you want to try undervolting.

The speed difference between the 2 CPUs is about 5% and not noticeable in real life.

I also choose P8600. Theoretically less fan noise and better battery life.

In situations when the CPU is fully utilized the T9400 can be up to 10% faster because of the extra cache + speed difference.

How much battery life is hard to say, my semi educated guess would be 20 minutes on 3 hours.

the P8600 is definitely good value for money if you're not doing anything too processor intensive. upgrade to a T9400 dosent give you much of a performance benefit, and you get a bit less battery life and more heat..

my ideal processor would be the P9500/P9600.....unfortunately they were not available for my precision :(

wonder how much cooler it would run if i did have one of those

Looks like he picked the T9400 though? ;)

Either is an alright choice - you're trading battery life for power. I would personally pick the T9400 for a machine like the FW - it's not really a "super long life" thing.

Yes, the machine that I have has been return, the T9400.. But I got it for cheap.. $1379 when I got it.. but got cosmetic problem, so return it..

I was thinking go to the sony store, and buy the top one that they have but it P8600 2.4ghz.. for about $1649..

But I was wonder should I call customer service, ask them to replace it, or wating for new model coming out.. See, don't know when it's coming out.. ?

    Ah.

Obviously haven't read all the threads.

Yeah - anyhow - either choice is fine. I'd rather pay 1347 and get the t9400 though!
