I have a Sony SZ780CTO. If I put in 2x 2GB PC2-6400 it would be downclocked t PC2-5300. What is the point of even accepting PC2-6400 if it can't utilizes it? Can this be BIOS upgraded in the future?

    THanks,
    John

The chipset is the limitation, so no BIOS upgrade will ever change that.

PC6400 RAM is used in notebooks that utilize desktop processors (the big, thick notebooks) and some AMD notebooks...that's about it.

And RAM speed really does not matter anyway, since most speeds actually perform about the same.

Buy PC-5300. Many people have bought 6400 RAM for no good reason and it ended up not working with their system.
