    Greetings

Someone gave me a nice old Vaio PCG K33 (runs a bit hot, but otherwise...) XP Home 1GB. The video was going on and off, and eventually, it just disintegrated into some horizontal white lines that don't change or move, even when I wiggle the cable (with the laptop partially disassembled) or move the lid. The VGA is fine.

I tried another inverter, another cable, and another LCD. (From eBay - all "Tested, working, good"...) But the white lines stay the same...except SOMETIMES..... Like yesterday, my cat sat down next to it, and the video came back, crystal clear. I rebooted, and still had nice video, until I hit F2 to get into setup. (It's right over the CPU fan). I immediately lost video again, and can't get it back. (The cat has her own life to live, so what can you do? :p )

I've been looking at the motherboard, trying to see if anything's wrong, but all I can see is - well - a bunch of very tiny traces, etc. (I've very new to laptops).

Have I tried everything I can reasonably do?

    Thank you!
