I have a Sony PCG-GRT360ZG laptop with 512MB of RAM (2x256MB). I decided to upgrade the memory to two 1GB sticks of RAM (1GB PC3200 DDR 200 Pin SODIMM). I replaced both 256MB sticks with the 1GB sticks and tried to restart the computer and it would not reboot. The power light would come on but the computer would not start up. I replaced one of the 1GB sticks with the 256MB stick and the computer booted up fine. I also switched the 1GB sticks and the computer booted up fine so I assume both sticks are OK.

My question is, since the laptop is supposed to be upgradable to 2GB of memory, why is it not booting with 2GBs? It boots with 1.25GB with no problems and it shows that it has this memory.

I've looked thru these forums and Googled this but I can't find an answer/solution. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
