My hard drive has failed on a K23Q, while the computer isn't exactly up to date I'm wondering if it's worth buying a new hard drive to run it a few more months before I upgrade.

My question is, do I need to buy a Sony part or can I simply purchase a generic hard drive? If a Maxtor or Fujitsu unit will physically fit, what's the risk of running into compatibility problems?

    Thanks!
