    Hi There,

I'm new to the forums, so please be gentle!

I managed to get this laptop from my sisters boyfriend and it has a number of issues with it. Firstly it was incredibly slow, but i reinstalled windows on it and it seems to be ok now. I'll need to buy a new battery because it lasts for about 20 minutes =/ A major issue is the noise, i wouldn't be able to take it to lectures at uni without people thinking there is a vacuum cleaner on in the room. The fans go on fully when its idle on the desktop for more than 5 minutes.

I'm just wondering if there is a guide to open the laptop? And presumably i open it from the keyboard to clean it? I've got experience with desktops, but not with laptops.

I'm planning on buying a new battery for it, and replacing the celeron with a p4 m will improve battery life and it should hopefully be cooler right?

Another question, it has 2 x 256mb of ram in it atm, can i remove one stick and replace it with 512, or shall i jsut replace both with 2 x 512? (dual channel won't work? etc.)

    Thanks a lot

    :)
