    Hi Indobladez,

Has the buyer put a non Sony battery into the laptop?

I remember that there is a daemon that ran and checked for the existance of a Sony battery. If a non-Sony battery was found then it would force the notebook into hibernate mode.

    http://www.neuber.com/taskmanager/process/isbmgr.exe.html

I do not know whether this programme was shipped with the Z series; A workaround was to remove the programme.

Of course, he may not have a battery in the unit or you wiped Sony's butchered Windows and did non-Sony Windows installation afore you posted it, which means this idea can be discounted.

    Best regards, k

Try to take out the battery, press the power button for 1 minute, than put the battery back and turn it on. If it doesn't help, I can't help I guess ,(

you should have asked him proof for what he claims. i dont see how disassembling the laptop on his end would make the problem go away. in fact, he should know better that by disassembling the laptop, he has altered the laptop from its factory state and has broken the warranty; you dont even have to refund him a dime.

somehow i sense something fishy going on with this buyer.

by the way, i think the ISBMgr service is part of the sony utilities software. if it detects that your battery is not sony authentic, however, it generates a pop up window every few seconds reminding you so. it does not put your computer into hibernation. there is no option of uninstalling this battery checker program except by disabling the service in msconfig.
