    Hello all,

My boss purchased a new Sony Vaio TZ191N with 32GB SSD. He says the thing is painfully slow and he prefers to use his older Vaio.

Recently, we were having a pbx system installed that utilized SSD and it suffered from serious lag. The installer told us he apparently received 3 bad SSD in a recent batch he ordered.

My boss and I were wondering if this might be the problem with his Vaio.

Has anyone else experienced a very slow laptop containing SSD? If so, has the problem been resolved?

    Thanks,
    Robert

I'm not sure, I'll check. However, he does like to load a lot of productivity software on his laptop. He did the same on his previous laptop and it runs a lot faster than the ssd model.

Does he have Norton Suite installed? That program was crippling a mates PC in XP! If he has it, get him to uninstall it then try it...im 99% sure it will be MUCH quicker!

If he does have it, get him to put on proper AV software! Symantec Corporate edition is ok if he wants to stick them them (wont cripple the PC like Norton Suite). But I recommend AVG, AVAST, NOD32, etc....

    1) Get rid of bloatware-see list of bloat on my previous post on TZ thread
    2) Defragment SSD with AUSLogic free software (to find, Google it)
    3) Buy a Sony 8GB memory stick for $105, and load applications on it...plus data...Other memory, like Transcend Express Card (8, 16 or 32GB) is v. slooooow!

Scratch #2...SSDs do not need to be defragmented.
