    Just a quick Q.
I've never had a Vaio but I just wondered, does Sony replace the palm wrests under normal wear and tear?
I ask this because I hear a tiny bit of creaking in my right palm rest and the computer is only a few weeks old. I am worried this will get worse.

I also purchased and invisible shield to put on the palmrest but what is Sony's policy on palm rests?
    Thanks!

To anyone who is interested apparently this is covered under warranty. Mine is not bad enough *YET* to warrant sending it in but it is good to know I have a year to have this looked at. It is just minor minor creaks usually only when I am putting pressure on the whole thing while using the trackpad.
I will be applying invisible shield to it so I will see at that time if Re-fastening it will help it or maybe i'll jam something in it (foam) to put pressure on it as I have done with a macbook pro before.

I didn't know how crappy Sony's support is though, I'm in BC and the ONLY service center is in Coquitlam errr.

Thanks 1k for calling in to confirm. I'm sure it will make some folks feel a bit better.

When you remove the palmrest, you'll likely find the area where it is creaking. I've removed mine three times now, not a peep anywhere.

I'd still recommend removing the palmrest before doing the Zagg application. It's a wet method and the risk of getting the internals wet is high.

At a minimum, pull off the keyboard.

EDIT: Did you happen to ask them about premature wear on the palmrest?

Is there an actual zagg product for just the palmrest?

I was def. gonna remove it as per your faq.

As per premature wear: I didn't ask that specifically but I have the feeling they will replace it. However the tech on the phone isn't 100% clear, the first place I called said yes its covered and you'll have to send it in etc and I was refered to a Canadian phone #.
The canadian call center said you have to send it in and then @ the center the techs will verify the problem. Thus, its still not 100% clear but i was told it was covered.
Thats not gonna make anyone feel 100% secure, the best thing would be to do is to take it in to the center in person to have them verify. Unfortunately Sony lacks repair centers so the center isn't anywhere close to me :(
    Sorry to 'unclarify'
    THanks Zoinks

if anyone is interested, the cracking of the palm rest has pretty much gone away, it creaks a tiny bit every once in awhile but I think it needed to set in for some reason.
