    I am looking for the part number of the power cable of the Continental European Sony VAIO Z models (i.e. the cable that can connect the AC Adapter to a Continental European socket). I suspect it to look something like;

    or

    Reason for me asking this; I am purchasing my Z in the US but would prefer using a 'normal' European power cable once I'm back in Europe.

    Thanks in advance for your help here!

    ps. I suppose that the power cables of all Continental European models are all the same? If not, I'm more precisely looking for the part number of the power cable that comes with the Dutch Sony VAIO Z models!

    I would recommend getting a grounded/earthed cable (three cores) so that you avoid any trouble with noisy headphone sockets or tingling palmrests, etc, that sometimes occur with non-earthed cables.

    Something like this should suffice (Euro plug at one end and C5 'mickey mouse' at the other):

    First of all, thanks for suggesting to take into account that factor!

    1. I understand the 'standard' power cable that comes with the ('Continental European') Sony Vaio Z models is not grounded/earthed???
    2. I don't have my Z unit yet so I have no idea what the side of the power cable that goes into the AC Adapter should look like... Are you sure the cable you suggested will fit/work?

    My UK version Z power adapter uses a C5 connector, sometimes called 'clover leaf' or 'mickey mouse'. I'm guessing the power adapter will be the same for you and only the mains cable will be different..?

    Can any US Z owners confirm it's the mickey mouse type of connector into their AC adapters?

    Don't know about the standard continental Europe cable not being earthed I'm afraid. (My UK version was earthed as I would have expected.)

    Ok, thanks for clarifying. Yes, I indeed suppose that all AC Adapters are the same, and that I hence only need to get the (Continental-)European version of the power cable.

    So ladies and gentlemen, then my question comes down to this:
    @ the AMERICANS: Does your Z's power cable have a 'mickey mouse type' of connector that goes into your AC adapter?
    @ CONTINENTAL EUROPEANS: 1. Does your Z's power cable have a 'mickey mouse type' of connector that goes into your AC adapter as well? 2. Is your cable earthed?

    Thanks!

    The (continental) european guys should be awake and browsing the forums now;

    Could any of you please answer my questions above? Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hi,

    I also bought my Z in the US, thus needed the EU power cable.
    Actually the cable you need does not look any of the two you have posted.

    You need one like this:

    You don't need to get this from sony. I just asked a local computer store to get one for me. I had it next day, so I assume it is pretty standard.
