How do I set a password so John D. Bag can't format my hard drive?
Just set one in the BIOS? Is it possible to only protect the recovery partition? (I don't want to enter two passwords every time I turn my computer on.)
Thanks,
Peter

I ended up just using a BIOS password, but I'm still open to any suggestions.

The bios password is your safest solution. But there's really no way to stop anyone from formating or deleting a partition by using a password or any other preventative measure. Even if you were to use a bios password, the person could simply remove the hard drive and do whatever he/she wants with it on another computer.

Well, they could also throw the computer from a sixth-story window. I'm just trying to make it a little harder than "press F10 to continue."
