I have this lappy and it's 2 years old, and I don't want to update it until quad core machines come out next year, so in the mean time i would like to upgrade the cpu.

    It currently has a 1.7 400FSB and on 400fsb i can only upgrade to the 755 2.0.

My question is can the motherboard of this laptop take a 533 processor? That way i could use a Pentium M 780.??

    Anyone know??

I don't think you can upgrade to a CPU that takes a 533fsb for your motherboard. The max CPU you can upgrade is the Pentium M 765 (2.1Ghz)... However, the bad news is that these 400fsb Pentium Ms are hard to find these days.
