I get frequent Windows Explorer crashes after which Microsoft suggests that I should download the above Reliability Pack, but after I try to it says that this fix is "not designed for this computer."

Does anyone have any insight into this stupid cycle?

You might want to just install SP1. If you already have it installed, that is why you don't need it.

I can't install SP1. I need to get rid of my hidden Acronis partition first because I only have 2GB of space left and SP1 needs more than that!

are you trying to keep the partition, or are you just worried of what might happen? I deleted it and all is well.

I have to delete it too, but I haven't got the courage yet to grapple with Partition Manager and dealing with the master boot record. I also need to look up Outrigger's post about that and I've not had time. :(

if you delete it, it will just give you an error message at boot time, until you fix the MBR, which can be done easily using a vista installation dvd.

    good luck.
