Hi guys, hopefully someone out there can help me. I have a Sony Vaio VGN
C2Z which I purchased about 6 months ago from a dealer on Ebay. Never been really happy with it because it's been difficult to get on my wireless network. Anyway have decided to sell but need to delete files etc. and maybe restore back to factory settings, but might sell it with Microsoft Office on. I did not receive recovery disk and although I have deleted what I think is most of the programmes so far I cannot permanently delete files which seem to keep coming back. I have tried a couple of programmes which do this but to no avail. Can someone help me please.

What sort of files keep coming back?

You could try BCWipe. I'm a PC Tech/SysAd contractor for the DOD, and we use BCWipe to clear deleted files and wipe freespace when doing cleans on DOD/government workstations. It's $40, but a DOD 7-pass wipe will get the job done and gaurantee any deleted file is removed from the workstation.

However, if you're going to sell it, it's $40 to ensure peace-of-mind that your personal files, once deleted, are gone and gone for good. And you can keep the software for future use if you ever decide you need it again. Great for cleaning drives that you're giving away/selling.

There may be free applications out there that do the same thing, but BCWipe is the only one I really have experience with. It's useful and works.

Hi, thanks for coming back. I will try your recommendation,it's worth the money just in case anything lurks about that I don't want anyone to see. Microsoft files are the ones in question, .doc; .xls; .ppt etc.

Oh, and just to note, when running and kind of wipe application, it's suggested to turn over System Restore during that time. It can cause conflicts.

You could always format your pc first using Darik's Boot & Nuke http://sourceforge.net/projects/dban/, then do a fresh install of windows and be happy in knowing that nothing will be left behind.
