Hi I recently bought a Sony AR21S, compared to the last 2 laptops both sony A117S & GRT786M the screen on the AR21S is the worst I have ever seen, it is dull, brown and a strain to work with, compared to the AR11M and the FE 31H and in fact any other Sony laptop it is dreadful, it has gone back to Sony UK who at the moment maintain that it is within acceptable limits, probably means they can't find out what is wrong, I am not trying to get at Sony but wanting to find out if anyone else has the same problem. Please let me know I hae until 1300 hrs UK time to know.

I keep reading complaints on the AR series screens, both the WXGA+, and the WUXGA. But I have to say, every AR series screen i've seen has been great. I see no difference in quality between them and previous generations, or other model lines. And i'm pretty uptight when it comes to LCD quality. "Dull" and "brown" definitely sound like characteristics of a defective screen.

"A strain to work with" on the other hand, almost sounds like you may have an issue with the resolution itself? Most anything on a 17" WUXGA screen is going to be quite small in size. I have pretty good eyesight, and have owned a WUXGA in the past, and at a reasonable distance, any text that couldn't be enlarged was far too small to read comfortably.

Either way, the AR is a nice system, you should try to get it switched, or at least go to a retailer and look at other AR's for yourself.
