I have a NW270F Vaio, bought it last year on December 7th. I just noticed last week that there are two spots on my screen that appear to have dozens of light gray dots in them (entire area is about the size of a quarter).

I called Sony on Monday and they diagnosed it as bad pixels. They asked me if there had been any water or other physical damage to the laptop. There's none; this laptop sits on a desk pretty much always and I never put any kind of drink on the desk.

Anyway, Monday morning when I called they set up an on-site repair and told me it would take 4-6 business days for the local tech to receive the new part and come out an replace it.

Anyone else had this problem with their Sony laptop?

I'm kind of surprised that this happened. I'm really happy with just about every aspect of this laptop.

Probably a bad screen if it happened in clusters. I haven't had one bad pixel in years of owning laptops.

Hungry Man, thanks for the input. I've never had this problem with any laptops either. Kind of surprising.

odysseas, it's more noticeable when I have a white (or any light-colored) screen up. From what I can see in that picture you posted, judging by the make-up of that cluster, yes, it's very similar.

UPDATE: The tech came out and replaced the screen.

And now there's a slight pink and gray (alternating) tint to it. After a little research I found some references to this being caused by a bad installation of the video cable or the cable being bad itself due to being stretched.

Also, the guy made a scratch to the right of the power button, perfectly in line with the screw on the bottom right of the screen casing. Obviously he did this with the screwdriver.

    Not happy.
