Hello I'm planning on purchasing a Vaio CW290 from the canadian website.
I've noticed that it only offers the Nvidia 211, which has no benchmarking available, while the american one is the Nvidia 310.

I performed the search term CW290 and only came up with a total of 10 posts, but none were too informative on the quality of the laptop.

I plan on getting an i7, 6gb ram, 211m (only option) on my CW290,and i was wondering if there was anything i should know about this laptop before purchasing it.

After my 2 years with m beloved XPS M1330, i've learned that i have to FULLY research the laptop before i buy a possibly defective product.

    Thanks!

It's suppossed to be the G310 on that site also... But I'm actually not sure you can get anything but the GT330m with the high-end processor choices.

    On second look,

    Canadian website offers i7, 211M
    USA website offers i5, 310M

So assuming the 211 is equivalent/newer than the 310m, the canadian website actually sells a better laptop!

Hmm.. true. But as for benchmarks on the G310m, I can say it's a pretty competent card (if overclocked, even better!).

Meaning the same will apply to the 211! I fear overclocking laptop graphics cards, after what happened to my m1330. And hence, i'm trading that in for a $400 rebate against the CW290.
Do you know of any issues on the CW? From researching the forums, i hear tht the CW2 series may have viewing angle problems depending on who you are, and the battery is wiggly.

Yea, the 211 is just a different name for it. But you won't have the same issues with overclocking this notebook if you decide to do so... The 8600/8400 debacle is over, and I think NVidia has learned their lesson on that one. But the battery is kinda wiggly, but I just put a little piece of paper under it and snapped the battery in place, and now it's just nice and tight. And as far as viewing angles, I've found it to be no worse than any of my other notebooks with 1366x768 resolution.
