Not sure if this is a laptop question or an SZ240 question as I am new to laptop use. I have a Sony SZ240 and every time I start the laptop I can not play audio until I go to the device manager, disable Sigma Tel High Definition Audio Codec, restart the computer, go back to the device manager then enable the Sigma Tel Audio Codec. After two sessions with Sony support they tell me that this is standard procedure for a laptop and is caused by logging on to the internet? I do not understand how that would make any sense!

That makes no sense whatsoever, I would try to uninstall the driver you are using the Sigmatel HD Audio one and reinstalling it to see if that would make any difference.

Download all the sony updates from sony support site , u can also ur driver there download and double click just follow the onscreen instruction, this would solve the problem.

Done, done, and done. Problem still exists. The more I use the laptop the more I see other things that this effects. Cant play audio for any thing (iTunes, movies, internet, etc.). Sony still states that this is normal to uninstall, reinstall. Do I just push for someone higher at Sony?
