    Hey Cardax,
I can try to help you, but I need a little more information. For example, on the Downloads page, they're asking for a "Series Number", and the dropdown menu gives these options: VPC, VGC, VGN, VGX, PCV, and PCG. Please give me as much information as you can.

    Cheers! - nojiri

FenderP, these are only update programs. Cardax, is that what you need? Or do you need original drivers for XP? It was hard to tell from your original post. If you need original drivers, the site is saying you need to get those off your recovery disk.

Sony Japan in my experience doesn't do what the US support site does. They only put updated drivers; originals are on the recovery partition or a recovery DVD.

The ones listed general go over existing ones (i.e. the basic Sony control DLLs and such), so the later ones would most likely be XP ones. Others are just updates to programs (i.e. SonicStage) which may not be necessary.

    Hi cardax,

According to the Sony site, for original drivers, you need to get them off of a recovery disk. If you don't have one, you can purchase one from Sony for 5,250 yen (about $57), but only if you are a registered Sony User. Here is the link to the English FAQ:

    http://vcl.vaio.sony.co.jp/qa/frequent/english/index.html

Look here at the 3-step process under "Lost Original Recovery CD." Unfortunately, the links past this are all in Japanese, and it's way too much volume for me to translate it all. If you copy and paste text, you can translate it with this tool:

    http://www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/cgi-bin/wwwjdic.cgi?9T

This is going to be a laborious process. Is it possible to get the recovery CD from the person you bought the U3 from?

Several months ago I went thru a similar situation....
I found that you can go on the European website for Sony E Support and use the drivers from the same series laptop....(ie. PCG-SRX--) as long as you know what the hardware is in your laptop.
I was able to load 99% of the missing drivers by searching thru the different models in the series....
