I have researched this laptop and tested the unit at the Seattle Sony Style store. I wish the laptop came with the 1900 nice resolution and no blueray option, but the lower unit w/o blueray only has 1400 resolution. I can afford the laptop at the 3499 cost, but I'm having a hard time justifying if it is worth that much. I like the laptop and has chrome looking color on the sides and premium glossy back on the LCD. What are your thoughts?

You are paying $1500 for the Blu-Ray drive.
-
It's unjustifiable. ZaZ hit the nail on the head.
-
Like they said, its the BluRay drive, which really is no justification at all.
Buy a Dell XPS M1710 instead, or get a cheaper desktop replacement. -
I say if you did the research (more than a few days) you love the design and you have the cashola...
If you get another laptop cause it's cheaper you will always have the empty feeling in your heart for the Sony. On your death bed you'll be thinking about that Sony.
Then again there are other nice machines that are allot less. You could use the extra $$$ for other cool gadgets.
I'm assuming you went to Sony Style in the U Village by U-Dub? If so can I play with it while you here? I’m just up the street.
EDIT:
I noticed you emphasized the looks of the machine. I have friends that spend hundreds of dollars for uncomfortable shoes JUST because they look good with the sunglasses. At least the VAIO is more functional. I made that X505 avatar to represent me cause it's a beautiful work of art that’s also a function technological masterpiece, not just looks. I have four perfectly good notebooks but every day I search eBay for one (X505). Will I go to my death bed regretting not getting one? I doubt it, more likely wishing the nurse would clean the poop out of my diapers, but still..... -
Here's my game plan I had done tonight, I went to WAMU bank and took out 3800 cash in anticpation of getting the laptop, I played around with it and decided to purchase it. I could wait until Saturday to buy it at the Sony store in Portland (No sales tax where I live), but wanting to buy it because stock is very low, I asked the rep at the store to grab 1 of 4 from the back room to purchase. Where I decided to delay my decision is when he was starting to ring up the laptop, I noticed the seal on the box was broken and I asked for a sealed laptop. They searched their stock and sure enough all seals had been broken, reason from rep. was that Sony manager had asked all laptop boxes to be unsealed and verify box contents. I trust Sony, but it's the fact of forking over 3800.00 and knowing the seal of the box was broken, I had second thoughts. The reason for the seal being broken was they had experiences in the past where customers purchase computers and then they come back and had some missing items. I think I'm going to go back tomorrow and just take the plunge, the resolution was awesome watching a DVD on the laptop, absolutely awesome, but awesome comes with a high price. Thanks everyone for their comments, and if I indeed decide as planned buy one tomorrow I will post a review, anyone else out there buy one yet?

Watch a DVD on another laptop with the same resolution and it'll be about the same... You're crazy
You'll be kicking yourself in a few months when BluRay is in more than just 1 notebook, and is half the price.

Yeh Blue-Ray is just something you wont use for a while, its not all that famous and in time as more companies start using it, the price will go down and you will regret spending so much now.
Get a Sony FE series or a Dell XPS/Inspiron 17" to actually get value for your money.
Please help me justify the cost of the Sony AR190g $3499.00 cost PLEASE
