I'm looking to replace mine P8700 cpu with the one from T9x00 series but i'm concerned about the temps afterward. So please tell me your temps in idle/full load if you have ......T9600,T9800,T9900 or P9700 . If you have some other T9x00 i'm interested in those to. Thanks

35W CPU = 95C max
25W CPU = 80C max -
That seams about right , couse when i play Metro2033 it hit's 78c In synetic benchs for CPU ~67c. So i can expect ~90c with Tx00 . I guess i'll have to buy some cooling pad when playing games (which i do rarely ). Thanks for the info

You can also undervolt the CPU.
If you are lucky and get a good CPU, you'll probably be able to get the TDP down to 25W again with undervolting.
I used T9800 in my old Vaio Z (with 25W-rated heatsink!) w/o problems.
The only issue is that for undervolting, you will have to use a 3rd party app in Windows (e.g. CPUGenie, RMClock, ...) -
Yeah i used RMClock with my old PentiumM 780 quiet sucessfully. Couldn't get it working on W7 64bit though on my new notebook. CPUGenie works great . Thanks
. I'll order T9900 and if it''s going to overheat , i'll put it in the yellow pages

I tried CPUGenie now with current P8700 , and got quiet nice resaults. With 1.15v@2533mhz average temp are 68.7c ,and managed 0.975v@2533 with averages at 60.1c , for now.

@psyq321
Can you explain what under-volting is? I get that it basically limits the voltage the CPU gets, thus keeping the peak temperatures down at peak performance runs. But are there any performance sacrifices with this (I see that MafiaMan run a P8700 at full speed with a voltage of 1.15V)?
Also, any idea where one could find a heatsink for the older Z that it designed for the T9900 (I think the 38W ones); I have the 25W P8600 and would love to get that up to a T9900....
Well, what the the differences with the T9k and the P8k series of the older in reards to parts around / near the CPU? I know the motherboard at the very least is the same across the entire older Z lineup, and I now know that the heatsink on the T9k series is larger than the P8k series. Are there any extra parts that the T9k CPU versions of the older Z when compared to the P8k versions?
Cheers in advance... -
There aren't performance sacrifices if you undervolt. T
T9900 is also 35W TDP as far as i know
Only difference between P8k and T9k is 3mb L2 cache versus 6mb. Other parts are same ,as far as i know

here the pic with CPU and GPU stressed with cpu undervolted. Couldn't get the pic with cpu @default . I assume to much energy is consumed and notebook can't handle it :S. With cpu at default ,seconds before crash temps are 95 max for CPU , average 84c for cores and 82c for GPU . Here's a very good proof of undervolting
So that's
CPU 89c vs 74.5c
CPU1 84c vs 70.5c
CPU2 84c vs 70.5c
GPU 82c vs 76cAttached Files:

Please tell me your temps if you have T9x00 series processor :))
