I've been having trouble with my S560 where it doesn't follow the scheduled standby setting.
The way I set it, the laptop should go to standby within 10 minutes of inactivity, followed by hibernation after 5 minutes. however, it rarely follows that, and I've given up looking for solution, until now.
I have the notebook hardware control running (which btw supports dual core now). On the NHC HD setting, I changed the advanced power management to a custom value of 127. It seemes that the value above 128, the HD will run without spin down. This spin down could mean stanby, but I never heard of the term spin down.
After changing it to 127, my laptop seemed to consistently go to standby in accordance to the power management settings (both NHC and Sony's power management).
Possible fix for standby/hibernation problem in Vaio S560?
