I want to use my extended battery at all times, simply because of the nifty elevation it gives. However, I don't want to have to have the laptop giving power to it even plugged in on AC. I am assuming the battery is still somewhat active even if plugged into AC. Is this true? Would leaving the battery there not affect heat, life cycle, ect?

I was hoping for a software setting or something.

No, I don't think you can disable a battery on any laptop. Probably the only way you could stop it from charging would be to insert thin flexible plastic in between the contacts of the battery and the laptop, which could be a hassle and I wouldn't recommend doing at all.

How about disabling it in device manager?
