    If so are there any settings I need to change or does it do it automatically? I want to use my laptop as a blu-ray player on my HDTV.

    Yes, it should be able to output video to your HDTV through the HDMI port on the Vaio. Good luck. :)

    Yes, the resolution all has to do with the screen you are using... in this case a TV... you can use VGA or HDMI provided you have the right port on your laptop...
