Just was curios if the connectors are the same between these laptops since they are both Sony. I like the S-series with its graphics power, but the screen I hear is really bad. If there was a way to put the Z-series LCD in I would just get a replacement LCD and install it myself. Anyone try it? Or is there any LCD that can replace the S-series' that is higher quality?

Its not possibile. And besides, the S screen is 13.3 inches and not 13.1 inch as in the Z

I understand that the sizes are different. However, with a bezel mod it might work. What I'm curious about is if the connector is the same. If so then fitting a smaller screen inside this laptop should be feasible.

Open up your S, take a photo of the connector and we can tell you if it looks the same on the Z.

mother of god... that's the hard part. We cannot even get the mobo out :( I've tried, and someone else has tried, too (and we're not idiots at this, either).

The S series is built to stay together....and appears to be next to impossible to tear down without trashing critical components. I would give up this quest and look elsewhere -- Samsung 7 series-- announced today.
