After uninstalling a Kapersky product and installing a Norton product on my Vaio F Series this week, my power button no longer puts the computer to sleep. Closing the lid no longer puts the computer to sleep. I believe a .DLL is missing.

In Vaio Control Panel, the advanced settings for the power button are indeed set to "sleep." However, the general power button settings are missing from the Windows control panel. The power settings (balanced, etc.) are fine. Windows 7 is up to date.

Sony live chat helped me try to resolve it, re-installed Sony Care products... but then said only a complete restore would fix it.

Has anyone successfully fixed this issue WITHOUT a complete restore? I find that extreme. I do not want to risk un-Quarantining some old threats with a complete restore. Blah.

    Thanks in advance.

Perhaps if you're on Windows 7, you can "restore your computer to an earlier time." Just type that into the start bar and it'll show a backup from earlier in the week or whenever was the last time you did a Microsoft update. This will restore it to before that update, and likely wipe your Norton install and may fix your issue. If you find that this restore doesn't work, you can revert back to your current configuration by going through the same process again, this time selecting the newer restore point.
