    I just read that the TDP is not really a good parameter to know real power consumption.

    A 30 watt TDP processor can consume less than a 20 watt TDP processor...

    Yeah, but it`s the only thing we have to go by.

    Where did you read about a 30TDP using less that a 20TDP , if you can find one.

    The difference is negligible.
    Explanation: The P9500 will use a few watts more when going full out on all cores, due to the larger secondary cache, but will use less power when idle, due to enhanced sleep/wait states in the newer stepping models.

    I'd go for the P9500, because for some jobs, it's significantly faster.
