    Dear All,

The vaio power management and battery care icons are gone from Vaio control center. I have already desinstalled and re-installed Vaio ctrl ctr as well as pwr manag and all stays the same.

I had the battery care activated and now it does not charge over 80%.

Do you know how can I solve this without having to use the system full restore which is a real burden.

Is there a way to activate the power management, specifically the battery care function by any other means (eg: command line).

I will greatly appreciate any help you could provide.

    Regards,
    Nuno

you can try access those VAIO Control Center via Control Panel?
and since you are already activated the battery care function, its disable the charging above 80%. Try take a look at the Battery Care function utility to change this limitation.

Thks. I can access on the menu or on the control panel. The problem is that when I open it, the powermanagement options are simply not there.

So I have no idea how to fix this or at least put the battery back to 100% charge :-(

    Any help?
    Thks

Did you turn off ISBUtil.exe in msconfig (or directly in the registry, or with another program)?

And you don't have to use a "system full restore" -- the "revert to previous version" should work just fine, as long as you haven't disabled it for the system drive. That will leave all your updated documents alone, among other things.

try removing the battery and inserting it again, i dont know if this works, but last time i accidentally removed my friend's battery and when i inserted it again, it started charging to 100% again. my vaio laptop doesn't support the battery care function, so i am not sure whether this works though :)

    Thanks.

What is ISBUtil.exe? I cannot find it on msconfig neither on the windows registry. Could it have a different name?

One more question: I did not understand if you are suggesting me to have it running or have it disabled.

    Thanks a lot.

That is if you want to reset the battery care function without using the software, I don't know if it works though.

But it is up to you whether you want to use the battery care function or not.

ISBUtil.exe is a battery checker utility from sony, and it will check whether your battery is genuine or not.

ISBUtil.exe might have different names like ISBMgr.exe
