I'm typing this on my other computer, but my Z has mysteriously encountered some power problems all of a sudden.

I can't turn it on. It just happened all of a sudden. No noise, no lights, no movement.

I did manage to turn it on by taking out the battery, unplugging it, and waiting 6-8 hours afterwards, it would turn on, and in the middle of booting up, it turns off. If I'm lucky, it'll make it all the way into windows and then shut off again.

I have to mention that I have opened up the laptop previously about a month ago, and cleaned the vents and fans off with compressed air, and applied AS5 to the CPU and GPU. Not sure if that's related, but that was a while ago.

Have you tried taking it apart and re-applying AS5? Is it because of a bad contact on the thermo paste that forced the system to shut down?... Or did you damage any connections while working with your Z?..

Whatever happened, I wish the best of luck to you. It must be frustrating to have that problem, and the warranty surely won't cover it anymore...

I wanna say it was bad contact on the AS5 BUT I did have SIGNIFICANT temperature drop after applying and blowing out dust. So it must mean I applied the paste accordingly.

I didn't damage anything, I've taken apart computers and laptops with experience and it seems weird that I would have power problems after weeks of usage since then.

I did notice one more thing though...my power supply is working because the green LED on is lit but the charging LED on my actual laptop doesn't go on.

    ahhh...

I did get the 2 year ADH warranty when I bought my laptop....I should just "drop it" and "spill water" on it and get a new one...lol

I actually took it apart...completely apart, and built it back together, made sure all the connections were snug and fit, and the problem disappeared from the face of the Earth.

I must have have not plug something in all the way the first time, and because its my portable notebook, a connection must have bumped it loose after a little while.

Ended up giving the notebook away to a noble cause, and buying another Z. lol

The same thing happened to me. Except it was working fine, and I sold it on ebay. Z520n

When the buyer received the laptop, he stated that it was not working. I was so scared that i was about to lose $1000.

Right now we are in the process of getting it repaired by Sony. Luckily I was still covered under warranty, but I'm not sure if they are going to repair it for free.

Sony replaced the Processor. I haven't gotten it back yet, but they said it seems to be working now.

I'm out of warranty, if its a major warranty they will replace the motherboard which falls under a major repair($700). I never accept extended warranties but for pricey items I guess I will
