    Premium SZ LCD screens - do they have a backlight?

    For some reason, a local laptop repair dude said that the premium LCDs on Sony SZs do not have a separate backlight. Is that true?

    The reason that i asked is that i sent my laptop somewhere else to get fixed, and they're billing me for BOTH a broken inverter and a broken backlight.

    What are the chances that BOTH of these are broken?

    Well to answer your first question, yes they have a backlight. Every LCD screen has one (or more).

    If it's likely that they are broken at the same time, I don't know.

    Maybe they meant that the premium LCDs have LED backlights vs. the CCFL backlights of the non-premium LCDs? I only know that LED backlights are more expensive, but maybe they're also more difficult to replace?

    On what i know it is very hard to replace a backlight from a LCD, normally for LCD repair if not the inverter the whole LCD itself need to be replace. Correct me if im Wrong. :)
