    Hi All;

    Just wanted to see if anybody had luck in a situation similiar to the below.

    I bought a FW290JTH (P8600, 4GB RAM, 250GB HD, ATI 3650, BR reader)at a SonyStyle store on BF. With their promotion and my EPP bonus, total before tax came to 1180. I thought I got a pretty good deal until.....

    I notice that, with the free/reduced upgrade options, I can configure a 290CTO with the same specs for 999.99 today. Called the store and they said that they won't match a preconfig system with a CTO, but I wonder if the story would change if I showed up in the store with my system, ready to return and swallow the 15% restocking fee. I know the difference would only be about $10 plus the lower taxes, but it might them show that I am serious ;)

    Anybody have a similiar situation and what was the outcome? Or maybe I should just keep checking the store prices to see if they come down before Christmas?

    Thanks in advance.

    You can CTO laptop at the store? I didn't know that. Some retail stores has price guarantee, but I don't think specific store has them like sonystyle. Even the online store doesn't do price guarantee. If there is a lower price point, you have to cancel/return your old one and just buy a new one. If the spec are the same, I say just keep the old one. After restocking fee from the store (if there is one), you only save about $4. Not worth the trouble.

    You can get a refund of the price difference even if it is CTO. I have got a refund with my FW290 CTO. However, I still decide to return it and rebuild one as I did not have too many parts updated on the old one, which leads me less refund.
