If they're price matching it has to be the exact same machine so same model number and same specs and therefore they can't always price match US resellers because Canada sometimes has their own pre-made models.
It also has to have the exact same warranty, which might not be the case for US companies selling to you(a Canadian buyer).
Also, they'll probably take into account the exchange rate and the shipping/border taxes if they price match, which is a headache to say the least.
I know at my store, we only price match an online site if it is the same item and it's still under our price including shipping and border taxes. -
well mine is the same specs but mine was customized online so the serial is different by 005 because its custom... wat about sony having free shipping will they accept that?

Well I'm not sure what happens with customizable models, but I know that to price match, it has to be the exact same thing(therefore the machine, the warranty, the parts and everything) and the price has to be lower, all costs included.
The best way to find to is to call a shop and ask them. Is the price difference notable though? I know they sell the FW285 on sonystyle.ca and it's listed at the exact same price as the one FS and BB use(so they aren't technically making any profit from it). -
1650 at fs and 1150 online at sonystyle.com + free shipping and same warranty fs only gives u the basic 1 yr and so does sony.

Sonystyle.com is the US site so you need to apply the USD/CAD exchange rate to it though before doing anything... (and with the low power of the Canadian dollar that'll probably lift it up to near 1500$)
There is also the question of the duty taxes you'll get when it crosses the border(for a laptop it can vary from 200-400$ including all the taxes).
There is also the question of whether or not Sonystyle.com's warranty applies to Canada. Do they even ship to Canada first of all?
All in all, I find it a lot of trouble and I really doubt you'll be saving THAT much more money after applying the exchange rate and duty taxes(that's even assuming they will price match you).
Configuring the same machine as the 285DH on sonystyle.ca comes up to 1682$ btw...
Price matching with the sony FW
