    Hi,

I ordered the Vaio TZ90 from Pricejapan in the beginning of July. I got the laptop and within a week the SSD failed.

The last month I have been trying to buy VOS, sending countless emails to them without reply - or with the reply of "please give more time"

They are quick to reply to e-mails regarding new sales, but you cannot expect any help if something goes wrong.

I was aware over the fact that warranty could be a problem when i bought the laptop, and I can afford the loss of buying a new SSD drive. I am just posting this as a warning to others.

    Kind regards,

    Steinar Torsvik

You could still send it back to them for Sony to repair?

and what about trying to buy VOS through someone else?

Maybe Conics want to do it for a price?

From what I was told, you need to have access to the notebook and to run a verification-type program, in order to order VOS. Even if another company had your VAIO in front of them, they would also need to know your VAIO login details.

I am guessing you receive your VAIO login details once you've registered your TZ. I also don't think PriceJapan register it for you, considering they do not open boxes.

Although, I am not entirely sure of the whole process, considering mine was all done for me by Conics.

Well this is what PJ says:

So they don't register, but the customer needs to do it when warranty issue happens. But then it should be done in Japanese Vista?!

Essentially, yes. That's how I read it, at least.

VAIO Japan use a program (that's in Japanese of course) that gets your serial number from the hardware to verify that you are who you say you are, your machine is what it is supposed to be, and you are eligible for what it is that you want to do.

Again, from what I know, Conics had to use the program to both initially register my TZ and again to sign my TZ up for VOS.

My harddrive is destroyed - so if the harddrive breaks within the first week before you have the chance to buy VOS you cannot buy it?

If you bought at PJ it will be very hard (or impossible) to get VOS.

If you harddrive is destroyed it's better to replace it yourself, and take the broken one to the manufacturer directly. (fe. Seagate or Samsung)

If you buy from PJ, can you buy VOS for example from Amazon?
If yes, I am covered with Sony service for 1 year in the countries that are listed in VOS conditions. Am I right?

    Wow nice find! but...

My understanding: I don't think it will work. If you buy your TZ in Japan, I believe you must buy VOS and register in Japan. This registration process is done in Japanese and must be done with the TZ itself.

As you can see amazon.co.uk only sells VOS with "Delivery Restrictions: This item can only be delivered within the UK"

You could always try to buy it locally. All that a country is doing, to my knowledge, is adding your notebook's serial number and details to a database that says you are entitled to VOS.

I dont want to buy it locally, becasue this is what I get for $3300 - U7500, 2GB ram, 100GB HDD, DVDRW, a/b/g WiFi, Bt..

And in PJ I get U7600,2GB,160GB HDD,TPM,Fingerprint sensor, a/b/g/n Wifi for $2100 shipping included, and pay 19% tax, that makes $2500 for a better config..

PJ answered to my mail quickly, here are responses:
    2) What would it be like with warranty? In your FaQ you are writing, that you provide 1 year in japan. But at TZ90 page, there is written 3 years warranty in Japan. Does that mean, that If something breaks during next three years, I can send it to your shop and you will send it to repair? (of course with Japanese OS).

    A. In the case of this model only, 3 years warranty in Japan. (with Japanese OS)

    Q. I can send it to your shop and you will send it to repair? (of course with Japanese OS).

    A. Yes.

    3) If I want to buy VOS, can I buy it anywhere or I must buy it in Japan? VOS must be regiestred on Japan support page with Japanese OS?

    A. VOS must be registered and bought in Japan.

I think Nanaki means buy VOS locally, not your TZ.

You could try it. Here in Netherlands I can buy VOS:
    https://maxict.nl/?page=detail&pid=122416&btwview=in

But I don't believe it will work, like PJ says.

Yeah, I was referring to VOS.

If you end up not buying VOS from PJ, or they won't offer it and you still order from them, and you try to buy it locally, let us know how it goes.
