    Hi all!

I have this problem with my Vaio FS815: after installing all the Critical windows update, the computer stops responding during hibernation. Its simply doesn't work and the screen freeze. I have to turn it off and restart again.
Also after "standby" option, when I try to turn on the computer again, the lights of the panel and HD seems to work, but the screen doesn´t.

I tried reinstalling everything, from the DVD recovery and performing a clean install, recovering the factory setings and all worked just fine. But once again after install the crtitical windows update, the problem was the same that before.

I'm using XP Home. I tried too to close also AVG and Kerio Personal Firewall 2.1.5, but the problem continues.

    Any ideas?

I find that MS updates often have unfortunate side effects so I always create a system revovery checkpoint before installing and I never do an express install so I can keep track of what updates are being installed.

If an unfourtunate side effect rears its head I can usually either restore to the checkpoint or uninstall the offending update via add/remove programs.

Because you did a full recovery, identifying the offending update mey be a little harder, but if you go to controll panel / add/remove programs [check the show updates box at the top of the window]. Then scroll down to the list of updates. Normally they appear in the order they were installed. In the case of a routine update just uninstall the updates installed today. In your case you'll have to either remember what the update was or start uninstalling from the end of the list until your issue is resolved.

    Hope this helps
