I put a DVD or CD into the drive and it goes "dee dee dee" three times like its trying to figure out what to do then stops. I hear no spinning up of the CD/DVD, just the "dee dee dee." Im guessing that the drive has most likely failed, the weird thing is that when I first bought it, it worked perfectly fine. Any other thoughts as to what this might be before I send the thing in?

You're not the first person I've seen on this forum report a malfunctioning drive in an SZ. God only knows why they chose to put a cruddy Matshita drive in them when they obviously make optical drives themselves. Sorry, that was more of a rant than advice. Hope Sony is able to work it out for you.

Well, what are you inserting, it depends.

What you're describing happens to me all the time.

Does the CD or DVD load? Not autoload, I mean can you use a program to open it, or see it in My Computer.
