My brand new FZ 4000 rubber feet seem to be uneven. The front left foot position is higher than the right one. If I lift it up, it looks very obvious. It seems that this is a design flaw as my notebook is brand new and the rubber feet don't seem to be damaged in anyway. Because of this problem, the screen is shaking a bit when I type.

Is it a common problem for all FZs? Should I return it for exchange or repair?

I've FZ-190, and it has a similar issue. so initially, it felt like the laptop is tilting while typing, but now it seems to have settle. There is a slight difference in height between left and right side rubber feet, but after some use it doesn't bother much. Also I had noticed the same thing on other FZ notebooks on display in stores.

Thanks for confirming that. Does your FZ screen wobble or move at all when you type? My FZ screen wobbles a bit when I type. The hinge is not 100% stiff. If I tap the screen at the top left or top right hand corner, it wobbles. If I type fast, it wobbles.

I wonder if this is normal for FZ or other 15.4" notebooks. Should I send it back for exchange or repair? Can it be fixed or is it another design flaw?

M FZ screen doesn't wobble when I'm typing (FZ140), I can only speak for myself, but if I bought a new pc and wasn't satisfied with it, I'd exchange it for the same model or another model or brand until I got one that I was satisfied with.

Slight warp seems to be a common problem with laptops made of metal casing - such as FZ or MBP. I remember noticing similar thing when I got my FZ, but maybe that was my table - on different table, and after using it for 9 months, it is flat now.

However, my screen does not wobble when I type. Maybe yours do because of uneven feet, but you may want to replace/return it.

Received my FZ4000 today, and the feet are rock solid. There is a case design element on the right side that protrudes so the right foot is shorter, I think. Not at home now, so I cannot confirm. Nevertheless, it's solid. Screen is solid too. An aside.. this laptop raises the bar for build quality compared to my Dell 17in Inspiron 9300. This is a very well constructed notebook. I'm really going to like this Sony. I feel like I just went from a Chevrolet to a BMW.

On my FZ190, there is some difference in height between left and right feet, when I received it, it looked awkward, but using it for few months it seems ok now.

Had mine for a few days and did not notice the feet height problem until I read this post.... But yes mine seems to be the same way, only makes the screen wobble a little, not a big enough issue for me to send it back...I don't want to give it up.
