Problem with Nvidia drivers on windows 8

Hi there,
I have a Sony VAIO VPCCW2S1R laptop with newly installed Windows 8 and I just can't get Nvidia drivers installed on it.

Driver 306.97 keeps saying my hardware is incompatible even after I did some changes to nvsm.inf and nvszc.inf files according to my graphics card ID (this trick worked on win 7 but not this time).

What should I do to fix this?
Video card is GeForce GT 330M

OK, got it! Turns out for Windows 8 some additional tweaks are needed.

Hi, could you please tell me what additional tweaks you used to get your driver work in windows 8 pro x64?

I have a GeForce GT 230M graphics card with Device ID:

In windows 7, I modified nvam.inf and added 2 lines in the first two large paragraphs, and one line at the ending huge paragraph of the file containing the models. Also, I added a line to ListDevices.txt. However, I cannot do the same thing in windows 8 pro and it does not work. I would be grateful if you could help me with this.

 

I have the same problem. I did upgrade to Windows 8!

In "laptopvideo2go" I had no help. Nobody answered the my call.

I upgraded my Laptop to Windows 8 and isn´t no support for my Video Card NVidia GeForce GT330.

In NVDIA site was said to have support for Windows 8, as in link below:

More after, I could not install the drivers.

I contacted NVidia and she said I needed to seek support in a community, as do changes to my hardware ID, not quite understand.

My Laptop model is Vaio CW: VPCCW27FX

Additional editing is required for modding infs of windows 8.
If you compare the infs that were available before Windows 8,then you will find there is an additional section
"[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.2]" along with the "[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0]" and "[NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1]"
I had to add my hardware id (PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A2A&SUBSYS_905E104D) to each of these section.For the amd64.6.2 it was:
%NVIDIA_DEV.0A2A.01% = Section003, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A2A&SUBSYS_905E104D

and for amd64.6.1 it was:
%NVIDIA_DEV.0A2A.01% = Section002, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A2A&SUBSYS_905E104D
similarly for amd64.6.0 :
Line 216: %NVIDIA_DEV.0A2A.01% = Section001, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A2A&SUBSYS_905E104D
Follow the other steps as required for modding the inf.

 

Your mod is for the Intel CPU?

I noticed in your line name AMD. I have the Vaio CW with Windows 8, most could not install the drivers.

I use Core i5 with GeForce GT 330M.

Hey guys,

I tried everything in order to update my nvidia drivers, but no succes so far. I have a vaio vpccw2s1e and have upgraded to windows 8. It has a nvidia geforce gt 330m. hardware id: PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A2B&SUBSYS_9072104D. I downloaded several modified .inf files. The last one i tried, gave me hope. However when installing the drivers, I get an error saying that installation has failed. See attached print screen. It is in dutch, it says that installation has failed. I also tried to install the drivers in safe mode, no succes. I also tried to modify the .inf file myself, but no succes ; I couldn't find the same files used in the tutorials. Can anybody of you guys can help me solving this horrible issue a lot of us are having. Thank you very much.

 

I solved my problem. It helped by installing the drivers with the have-disk method.

My problem has been with the Windows 8 System.
I installed Win7 Drivers have many more problems, as an example, my wallpaper appears only half.

If it does not work, I'll have to go back to Windows 7

The last days i tried to Upgrade my 4 Years old Sony VGN-11AWM from Windows 7 64bit to Windows 8 64bit. After the Installation the "old" modified NVIDIA Graphics-Driver (310.90) has been deactivated and was replaced by an kompatible Microsoft Driver (WDD 1.2). A new Install of the original NVIDIA Driver was not possible. Installation failed! I tried everything. NVIDIA-Cleaner, manuell Deinstallation and stuff like this. Now, I found a Solution on LaptopVideo2Go: NVIDIA & Laptop News and it works fine. THX to krisdf from Denmark... ;-)

It seems like Win 8 has a build in blocker for unsigned drivers, which needs to be disabled!
The following guide will allow you to install the driver anyway.

From the Metro Start Screen, open Settings (move your mouse to the bottom-right-corner of the screen and wait for the pop-out bar to appear, then click the Gear icon).
Click ‘More PC Settings’.
Click ‘General’.
Scroll down, and click ‘Restart now’ under ‘Advanced startup’.
Wait a bit.
Click ‘Troubleshoot’.
Click ‘Advanced Options’
Click ‘Windows Startup Settings’
Click Restart.
???
Profit!
When your computer restarts, select No.7 ‘Disable driver signature enforcement‘ from the list. You can now load your modified driver. Modified Driver Infos:

Reboot again once the driver is installed and all will be well.

Es sieht so aus, als hätte Windows 8 einen eingebauten Blocker für unsignierte Treiber. Dieser Blocker muss bzw. sollte vorher deaktiviert werden, will man zum Beispiel einen aktuellen NVIDIA Grafikkartentreiber auf einem älteren Notebook von z.Bsp. Sony oder Dell installieren!

Dazu geht man wie folgt vor:

Mit der Maus oben rechts in die Ecke fahren, das Pop-up-Menü öffnet sich. Jetzt ganz unten auf „Einstellungen“ (Zahnrad) klicken. Dort wählt man ganz unten „PC-Einstellungen ändern“ aus. Jetzt kann man auf der linken Seite „Allgemein“ anklicken, dann erscheint auf der rechten Seite eine Vielzahl von Einstellungsmöglichkeiten. Ganz unten gibt es die Funktion „Erweiterter Start“ – Wählt man nun „Jetzt neu starten“ aus, erreicht man die Reaparatur- und Wiederherstellungskonsole von Windows 8. Unter der Kachel „Problembehandlung“ findet man u.a. eine weitere Kachel „erweiterte Optionen“ – Klickt man diese an, erscheinen wieder einige interessante Funktionen für das zurücksetzen, wiederherstellen, reparieren etc. – Wir klicken auf „Starteinstellungen“ und betätigen den Button „Neu Starten“ – Das System bootet neu und bietet uns vorher ein Auswählmenü mit den Möglichkeiten 1-9. Wir betätigen die Taste 7 und wählen damit „Erzwingen der Treibersignatur deaktivieren“ aus. Nach dem erfolgten Neustart sollte einer Neuinstallation von geeigneten, auch modifizierten, Treibern nichts mehr im Wege stehen.
