I own a Sony Vaio, and recently i tried plugging in my charger, and noticed a weird beeping noise coming from it. I thought maybe I hadn't noticed it and it had been doing that all along, but then I realized that even though my charger was plugged In, my computer was still running off the regular battery instead of showing the usual plugged in Icon. The green light that is usually on is now off on the charger when plugged in as well.

My question is, what is this? Is it broken, and is there anyway it can be fixed?

I had this problem with my really old Z1. The Sony charger can get damaged by fluctuations in AC, so said my buddy who worked for Sony. Get a replacement AC adapter. Eventually, the adapter will overheat and fry, which in that case, it will smell like fried circuits, if you know the smell I'm talking about. Chances are the power cord isn't fried, unless your charger doesn't have a removable power cord.
