I have tested two different USB 3.0 hard drives out with my SA and as soon as I plug in either one, my Logitech wireless mouse stops working. The mouse uses a small USB dongle. I have also tried a MS Arc Mouse (which also has a USB dongle)and it stops working as well. If I use the hard drives in USB 2.0 ports this does not happen...only when using the USB 3.0 port.

Has anyone else seen this issue or have a fix?

I haven't tested it on my machine. But are those USB3 hard drives of yours powered by an external power source or are they powered through the USB3 cable? Because it could be a power issue (not enough power for all the USB ports). I only tested USB3 flash sticks and they worked without any problems for other USB devices.

They do not have external power but the issue also does not happen when using the same drives on the USB 2.0 ports. I also tried using a powered USB 3.0 hub and as soon as I plugged a hard drive into it the mouse stopped working.

Ok I checked and used an external USB3 harddrive and a wireless logitech usb mouse which uses a small dongle as well. The mouse was working fine. No problems whatsoever on my machine. Which usb3 driver do you use?

I am using the driver it came with and according to the Sony support site, it's the latest version. Did you test with the hard drive plugged into the USB 3 port?

I have this exact setup, USB 3.0 external Hard Drive and a Logitech wireless mouse with a small dongle in a USB 2 port. I've never noticed any issues with this setup.

Could it be an issue with the drivers controlling the hard drive?

Or perhaps even some hardware issue with the SA...

Yes I used it the same way you and lazybee described. No issues whatsoever. Either your harddrives are not working correctly in USB3 mode or there might really be a hardware issue with your SA.

I am going to reinstall the USB drivers and test it again tomorrow when at the office. I tried it with two different USB hard drives...both pull their power from the USB port...not sure if the drive you used was self powered or not?

I tried to emulate your settings as closely as possible, the drive was powered through the usb3 port the wireless mouse sensor was plugged in the usb2 port. No problems. I'm sorry that I can't give you any further information on how to solve your issue. Concerning your USB3 harddrives: Which brand? I tried two different Seagate drives without any issues. USB3 flash drives were also working fine.

No problem with WD Passport USB 3.0 750GB + Logitech Nano VX in the USB 3.0 and one of the USB 2.0 ports, respectively.

Admittedly, I only have a SC variant.

It looks like I have fixed the issue. I plugged the drive in, then uninstalled the USB Storage Media device listed in device manager. I then plugged it back in so it would reinstall the driver. It no longer is interfering with the mouse, even after a reboot. Thanks for everyone's input.
