there is only 2 recovery discs - that i created before deleting the recovery partition. (my model is fz290). i installed a clean vista business and everythins seems fine.

    to summarize the disc problem:
if you start from the first one it prompts if you wanna do a complete recovery or some application recovery, when you select application recovery it starts copying files on in AppData/Roaming/Modules folder - (copies the entire recovery stuff i guess). then it asks for the 2nd disc. when you place it and click 'ok', it just hangs there forever stuck (left on whole night in case it is somewhat slow).

on the other hand if you start from the 2nd disc, it asks for the first one, and if you place it and click 'ok' again it hangs.

so there is something wrong with those prompts or something related... has anyone seen this kind of error?

I am not sure but even i had probs with my recovery discs which i created for my new laptop.

couple of things i have learned...

not to use a double layer disc...

and always use good quality blank discs to create your recovery discs!!

did u follow the above stuff...?

i used normal dvd+r discs. and i use verbatim, which is probably among the best available recordable media.

    well, i solved the problem.

as a rule of thumb, i disable autorun/autoplay on removable media. the recovery discs do not recognize when they are inserted if the autorun doesnt run. so enabling autorun, or running autorun by double clicking the driver, before clicking 'ok' on the prompt that asks for 2nd disc should work.... it works :p
