I have a two part problem using my system recovery discs. I have deleted my hard drive and am wanting to reinstall the laptop to factory settings.

    I have a pcgfrv31 sony vaio laptop

First, when I ran the first disc, It stated "no system drive detected". I then clicked ok. Out of the three options to restore, two were not accessable leaving me with only the custom install option. I chose it and clicked ok.

after going through the options a status bar came up showing the progress and right before it got to the end I recieved this error. "Error occurred while partitioning. Error Code:4" I clicked ok and the laptop restarted.

The second problem is now when I try to use the discs I get an error stating the discs cannot be used on this computer and that I need to confirm the model type.

    Any insight is appreciated.

i am assuming u r quoting the number from base of VAIO? The model number should be VGN-.. found on frame of screen

anyhow if you have formatted your HDD then chances are you may have changed partition size- and hence the error "no system drive detected"; you may need to ensure the partition size is same as before otherwise the RCDs will not work
