So, I have a SZ120P with the standard LCD screen which because of a recent fall cracked. I got a good deal on a premium lcd housing and LED LCD so I thought I could use that to replace the screen. I used the service manual to remove the old LCD screen and housing, and replace it with the new LED thin LCD and housing, but when I powered on, the LCD had no back lighting. I could see when I placed it under light, that the LCD was on, but there was no backlight. So Im guessing either my 120p is not compatible with the thin lcd or I am missing a part or something? Has anyone else had experience with this kind of an upgrade? Please let me know your thoughts and experiences. THanks.

If I am correct, there is a small board called LED Driver required to use with LED LCD. Here is the part you need A1178610A.
Go to Sony Parts and Accessories site to order it. -
Thanks for your reply. Since I have a nonpremium LCD, does that mean that my motherboard actually has a site for me to plug this lcd inverter into? or is it going to require that I buy a whole new motherboard. also, when i was removing the lcd, i was trying to remove the camera connector, and the whole connector came off the board. So now i will probably have to replace that board as well? Is that the USB board? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You don't have to replace all motherboard.
All model from SZ1xx to SZ4xx use exactly same motherboard.
This tiny board called COMPLETE PWB DDC-5 (S) and its price is $22.31 plus shipping and tax if applicable. You will see there is a small balck connector next to LCD connector on the motherboard. That connector is for the tiny board above which drives LED LCD.
