I just purchased an FS620 because it was a deal at $999 after rebates and the screen is gorgeous. But the internet via wireless runs VERY slowly to non-existent when using the battery and the battery dwindles to below 55%. If I plug the AC adaptor back in the problem is instantly fixed and when I unplug it the problem resumes. I have other laptops running off the same network and are perfectly fine downloading form the internet while on battery power. I'm not quite sure what to do about this. Anyone know if this is a common problem with the FS series? Is the FS battery generally worthless below 55%? Would the hi-capacity battery solve this problem? Anyone have this issue with the S-series as that is my next choice if I can't get this FS to work out?

I have not seen this in my own S or tested FS680. Are you saying that using wireless will drop your battery from 100% to 55% instantly? I used the FS680 when I was making presentation and grabbing stuff internet here and there and I have not seen any difference in wireless performance.

Perhaps you need to double check on your power management profile or maybe you just got a bad battery or wireless card.

Thank you for the reply. No, the battery percentage on the meter does not drop. What happens is that the wifi connection gets slow as molasses while surfing and doesn't have the power do download some programs while on battery power, even though the battery meter reads 65%. As soon as I plug back in the AC adaptor the problem is solved and surfing and downloading resumes as normal. The problem seems to increase the longer it runs on battery power, because I took it back in to CompUSA for a tech to look at and of course it wasn't happening at that moment because the computer had been shut down for the 45 minute ride there. Guess I'll take it back in tomorrow and leave it with them for testing. Hope it's just a matter of a bad battery. The wifi card works fine with the AC adaptor...

    Hey bluflax

I, also, bought the Vaio FS620 at CompUSA for that great deal. Well, I thought it was a deal, anyway. It's the first laptop I've ever purchased! Did you have the option of also buying a Sony Cybershot digital camera? That saved me $370, so I went in head on and bought that, too. I have not yet been able to connect to the internet, though. I'll post back if I have the same issue. I hope you can get it solved!
