Hi guys, I was wondering what steps you need to take to purchase a Sony warranty after you've purchased a vaio? For instance, you can get a Sony warranty from newegg here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834996758

I'm only asking this because I'm looking at some of the online dealers (they're cheaper than the regular stores) and am considering all my options. Thanks.

I would personally get it from Sony, but if im not wrong you can only get extended warranty within 30 days of purchase date of the product.

I got 2 years extended from Sony for $200cnd, protection against surges, hard drive failure etc. Making me fine for 3 years.

Are you talking about the warranty or the laptop?

Oh, and can you buy the laptop from any store listed on pricegrabber.com (or it's equivalent) and then buy the warranty afterwards--either direct from sony or somebody else, a la newegg.

Im pretty sure you can buy it from anywhere else that sells it - its usually cheaper than buying it from sony in the UK anyway.

Also, i got told that as long as you buy the warranty before the standard warranty runs out i.e. within 1 year of buying the laptop, then the warranty is valid.
