Hi, after grabbing an ultrabook but returning it due to my distaste of the fan noise (and to some extent the battery life), I'm looking at the other slim models Sony puts out.

VAIO S Series PC | Sony | Sony Store USA

What's the pros and cons of grabbing a 13.3 Sony S that starts at $799 here, maybe putting in a better dedicated graphics card (boosting it to 899)? Unlike the ultrabook it has an optical drive which should come in handy and it's only slightly heavier. Anyone have any experience with these?

It ain't cool if it ain't premium.

Grab the Premium model with Carbon Fiber and HD+900p resolution and fingerprint reader.

What's the big difference between the two? I'd rather save the money and have it be a little heavier. Don't need the higher res and fingerprint.

if you dont need the higher res or care about the weight or look, then there really is no difference.

I recommend you go to the store and see the difference between a 1600x900 13" vs. 1366x768 13". If you don't care for the higher res, save your money and go with the Vaio S Enhanced (which is the version with the Graphics card and lower res screen).
