So guys after lurking here a few days I decided to get a SZ650. And before doing any uninstall of the junk I would like to know what is the difference between all the restore options in VAIO Recovery center.

I first create 2 recovery DVDs - what is it?? a ghost of C: ??

VRC has another option called System recovery (somthing like that), so what is the difference?

I came from the desktop world and I used to build my own PC and do my own ghost.....now I am confuse....

there are different methods of restoring. The 2 dvds u have are all that is needed to do a full restore. It is basically the factory image of the operating system with drivers and software (including bloatware)

    Method 1:
You initiate the restore process using the vaio recovery center and the hidden partition that contains the factory image your PC.

    Method 2:
Use the 2 dvds you created to restore to factory. Put disc one in and reboot your laptop and it will initiate the process.

When you do method 1 or 2, you have the option of the following:

    - Restore software only
    - Restore OS and software on C:
    - Restore OS and software on C: and format D: so that it is back to factory default.

If you plan on rebuilding your OS installation I would make a couple of copies of the recovery DVDs as a failsafe just in case you blow away the factory hidden partition with the standard image.
