For those of you who own VAIO notebooks and purchased a Provantage Extended Service Plan did you ever have to send your notebook in for repair/service? If so how did it go? Did you send it to Provantage first or directly to a Sony service center? Are these plans the same ones that Sony Style sells only cheaper?

I got my Sony onsite accidental extended warranty from Provantage. It is cheaper to get it from it. Provantage is not related to the repair service. I sent my laptop in 3 separate occassions; everything was dealt with Sony.

Even if you buy an external ESP, it will be Sony who deals with the computer during the first twelve months of your ownership. So, unless you sent it in after year one, we don't have any new information from your experiences.

Was it after the first year?
